In the UK, the system used to classify the activities of companies is the CNAE or National Classification of Economic Activities, which is prepared by the INE and aims to establish a hierarchical set of economic activities that can be used for statistical and administrative purposes. That is, the CNAE systematizes the grouping of production units according to the activity they perform and thus allows the production of statistics.
