The rise of Amazon

 

Amazon has really shaken up the UK market as it has the US one.

 

Amazon was founded by Jeff Bezos in Washington, on July 5, 1994.  Over the years it has grown and grown and now has a very strong position in the UK supply chain, few if any rivals can match its ability to deliver same day for a modest price.

Amazon is now a real international player and a dominant force in many important markets, they operate in all the major regions:  Amazon USA, Amazon UK,  Amazon Australia, Amazon Spain and Amazon Japan to name just a few.

Now that Jeff Bezos has decided to step down it will be interesting to see if the business continues to thrive or looses the drive that Bezos brought to it.

Amazon are talking about moving into the UK pharmaceuticals market, which whilst a regulated business with fixed prices could benefit from the Amazon distribution network and model.
